What will YOU DO TODAY to create a better
world tomorrow?

Just about a whole pound of fertilizer and pesticide is used to manufacture one pair of jeans - add to that the cost of the farming, mechanical processing, transport and merchandising to establish the real energy costs involved...think twice about tossing away those unwanted clothes - try to find a new home for them to extend their useful life and minimize your energy waste quotient.! |
|
Fifty percent of the gasoline used in highway driving is used to overcome wind resistance - the faster you go, the more you consume. Consider lightening your foot on the gas pedal by a few miles per hour, save fuel and watch the pennies pile up...and remember to turn off you engine if you will be at an idle for more than just a minute or two! Why not encourage your child's school to post "No Idle Zone" signs? |

Volunteers can help!
Volunteers will play an important role in responding to the recent oil spill affecting the Gulf Coast. Service opportunities are posted regularly, so check back often for ways to help Florida’s beaches. Volunteers are mobilizing all over Florida's Panhandle! Clearing man-made debris from beaches before the oil hits Florida's shores lessens the impact to this delicate ecosystem. If you do not see an event posted for your area, and you would like to help, contact your local volunteer center. If you would like your event posted on our Web site, please contact us. |
