INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE
As an “eco-preneurial” start-up, UGottaGoGreen.com has several ground floor opportunities available for the right individuals. We are looking for a few self-starters who can be self-directed, responsible, reliable and committed to their work with us. If you feel as though this describes your style, please read on. We need assistance in the following areas:
Essentially this function would be to investigate and uncover, resources, events, products, services, businesses and organizations that have offerings related to our areas of interest - “Going Green”, Sustainability and Eco-friendly Lifestyle. Once information is obtained, it would be the intern’s responsibility to organize the data and follow-up with data entry of pertinent information into files, calendars, charts, listings and any other storage or communication format necessary. Depending on the size and scope of available material, there may be potential for two interns who may even who know each to work in tandem in this capacity.
This position would entail going out in the field and “covering” events that transpire in our local area and writing articles of interest about these events for publication on our news digest, magazine style website. “Assignments” would be scheduled with consideration to academic time commitments and availability. Of particular interest would be reporting on activities pertinent to our “Kidz Korner”, “Teen Scene” and “College Connection” Departments. Again, if two individuals who are friends would like to be considered for this opening, this could be a co-operative situation. If either person possesses the additional skill of videography (does not have to be on a professional level of course), that would be an added plus.
This position could largely be subtitled, “news hound”. The essence of this position is to keep a constant and close watch on news headlines and RSS feeds, blog articles, publicity releases and any other avenues of news and information release in order to scoop article ideas for our web-based, news digest, magazine-style website. Articles of interest would be briefly synopsized and then catalogued for reference. The potential for crafting articles based on this research would also exist for an individual with good writing skills, again, a plus.
Get your feet wet in learning first hand how grass roots organizations can mobilize communities into action. This position would basically be comprised of helping to plan, organize, publicize, facilitate and possibly assist with initiatives, events and activities related to our mission. Organized, creative, people person, problem-solver, and high energy would describe the ideal candidate for this position. This position may also lend itself to being shared by two individuals who want to work together.
Are you an innately gifted computer “geek” or “guru” who can trouble shoot problems and work to improve technical systems and web-related issues? If so, we would love to hear from you. Responsibilities would be troubleshooting, monitoring and tweaking of systems to improve stability, usability and efficiency.
This is a ground floor opportunity to become immersed in the realm of Social Media in all of it’s many forms – from Facebook , Twitter, LinkedIn, Meetup and Ning to Publicity Releases and other more traditional Public Relations communications…you will be the “SoMe” star of the organization. So, sharpen your pencil and start thinking in 140 character messages!
Although none of these positions are paid internships, the level and breadth of experience that you will gain will be an invaluable asset as you move forward in your academic and career path. The “psychic” reward will be vast and knowing that you are contributing so profoundly to improving environmental conditions for our community and our region should be quite satisfying and fulfilling.
